Technical examinations of LV and HV

It is common knowledge that an initial inspection must be performed after the installation or complete renovation of electrical equipment.

A lesser-known fact, however, is that according to Section 9(1) of Act No. 124/2006 Coll., the employer (the term “employer” also includes, for example, the operator or lessor of a facility) is required to ensure occupational safety and health. In particular, they must monitor the state of occupational safety and health, including the safety of technical equipment. To this end, they are therefore required to ensure regular OPaOS, i.e., periodic inspections of electrical equipment.

The intervals between periodic inspections are determined based on the assessment of external influences on electrical equipment in accordance with STN 33 2000-5-51:2007  (The report on the determination of external influences is part of the project documentation or the initial inspection of the electrical equipment).

A particularly neglected category of electrical equipment when it comes to regular inspections is the electric hand tools routinely used in businesses and households.
